About The Welberry Portfolio
The Welberry Portfolio is the vision of Dr Gavin Jones, Chartered Psychologist, who when working within public and private healthcare settings became increasingly frustrated at the declining levels of care and service provided to vulnerable people wanting treatment. Public service cutbacks and commercial pressures have frustratingly seen the rise in declining clinical standards, and the employment of inadequately experienced, and unsatisfactorily trained clinicians, who lack the essential and fundamental understanding to effectively treat mental health. Often treatment facilities in desperation or naivety are bolstering treatment repertoires with the quackery of ineffective equine therapy, reiki, acupuncture, homeopathy or the Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA) twelve-step recovery approaches, practices, which are harming the mental wellbeing of vulnerable people.
Dr Jones is a British trained and highly qualified licensed psychologist, who is a member of the United Kingdom’s Health and Care Professions Council. Dr Jones has accumulated over twenty years’ working within various healthcare and business sectors, such as the criminal justice system, commercial organisations, sport, arbitration, and university lecturing. Dr Jones has also gained significant experience in setting up psychological programs for the National Health Service in the United Kingdom (UK), and for international providers of mental health, and drug and alcohol treatment centres in Asia. Dr Jones has taken extensive time and care to develop the Welberry Portfolio into a gold-standard, modern, and evidence-based service provision, which is effective in managing mental illness, drug and alcohol issues, medically unexplained conditions such as unexplained infertility, irritable bowel syndrome, fibromyalgia and pain management.
Dr Jones’s initial interest in psychology and his passion to effectively improve the wellbeing and lives of people with mental illness initially developed from his own personal experiences of mental distress when young. Dr Jones’s mental illness was poorly understood from an outdated and underfunded mental health service, which was more comfortable with ideas of sedation than psychological treatment, which even as a teenager appeared to Dr Jones to be a temporary, and desperate solution for his distress. Dr Jones’s experience of mental illness as a young man was understandably an uncomfortable time. However, to this day he remains grateful for this experience because it has provided him with a unique and enviable empathy and passageway into understanding the distresses of the many people who require his service.
Dr Jones and the Welberry Portfolio’s highly professional team understand the need for confidentiality, anonymity and a flexible service provision that is tailored to the unique individual needs of the person or organisation requiring support. Thus, the services of the Welberry Portfolio can be provided exclusively, conveniently and anonymously during a short vacation break or for longer periods when necessary, in one of our exclusive and luxurious villas. The villas can accommodate individuals wanting alone treatment or if there is a need to accommodate family, friends; or larger parties from organisations this is also possible because our substantial villa portfolio means that we can provide villas that can cater for up to thirty people with varying needs.
However, if stays away from your home locality are impractical, we also offer the Welberry Outreach Services, which provide a digital psychological consultancy through telephone or applications such as Skype, FaceTime, WhatsApp, or email. We can also provide a community-based psychology service where we deliver the specific service that you require directly to your preferred locality (e.g. your home base, community, office, or organisation).
Dr Jones is renowned for his deeply compassionate, passionate, empathetic and effective approach to treating mental health, drug and alcohol issues, and his understanding and kindness in treating people who have endured emotional, physical and sexual violence. Dr Jones’s work has seen him help people across all walks of life from high profile individuals in Hollywood, politics and sport to those less fortunate and less privileged who have been detained in the criminal justice system, or those living, and working on the streets of the United Kingdom. The efficacy and quality Jones’s work and success for the organisations that he has worked with has been acknowledged by the United Kingdom’s Care Quality Commission (CQC); and Dr Jones’s professional practice and innovative treatments have also been documented in the Australian press; and his work most importantly has been recognised by a plethora of his former clients who provide strong accolades. The following is a summarised selection of written and verbal feedback from some of Dr Jones’s former patients:
“Thank you so much for everything you have done for my child and my family.”
Patient, New Zealand
“I wouldn’t be able to have started my lifetime journey towards sobriety without your help.”
“The outstanding Dr Gavin Jones.”
Mother of patient, United States
“You saved my life my friend…. My mom still asks if we can adopt you!”
“I now understand who I am and why I am who I am. If that makes sense? Everything about me makes sense now and why I’ve done these things in my life.”
Patient, United States
“I have seen the best psychiatrists in Europe and none of them understood me or allowed me to come off my anti-depressants. They kept saying it was too risky in case I reverted back to my darkness, but I just felt terrible on them anyway and in my opinion, I had nothing to lose. And with Gavin’s advice and guidance I slowly came off them and I am now experiencing the best mental health of my life.”
Patient, United States
